Chapter 12 #L

Going through chapter twelve tech tool 12.1 is all about tracking technology trends, this means always being up to date about the new technologies coming out like ipads or a new computer system. This tech tool gives websites that follow certain trends through technology that people can follow on a daily basis. One of the websites called The Horizon Project is about the latest educational technologies emerging for example the ebook. Another cool website that is helpful in my opinion that is in the book is, The Scout Project. This website provides newly discovered resources that are useful for educators, it also provides research articles and is free!

Tech tool 12.2 talks about Digital Pens and Digital Notepads. One of the things it talks about is a digital pen, this is a writing device that records writing that someone has written or spoken and can be accessed again on a computer that converts into typed text (Porgue, 2008). Another was the digital notepad this devices allows someone to write and draw then converts those images into digital text! This were really interesting to me and I think I need to invest in one now. This is a video of the digital pen below.

  1. The Horizon Project is a good one and though some could argue that it is a bit 'old fashioned, I like to check it out with every year's update. It is amazing to see how fast things move up the ladder and how other things disappear from the face of educational technology. Either way , it is a reflection of the need to keep up!
